In this article we are going to do a review on the new cost of data bundles in Kenya, by April 2021
Due to Covid 19 Pandemic regulations like lockdown,
cessation of movements, and closure of learning institutions; the demand for a reliable
and affordable internet is high. Both private and public sectors are being
forced to work online via internet in order to curb the spread of COVID 19
Virus. Learning institutions like universities and Technical and Vocational Colleges
are also in plans to embrace blended and online learning (TVETA). Therefore, we
as Mt Kenya Computer Technicians decided to give you some guidance on internet
cost and its respective effectiveness.
Below is the list of the Internet Service Providers:
SAFARICOM
Safaricom
has the largest coverage in the country and internet speeds are phenomenal.
We’ve got to give them credit where they deserve. Safaricom has also collaborated with some institutions to offer cheaper bundles to the learners.
However,
the cost of the bundles doesn’t give value to the average Kenyan in these hard
economic times. Nevertheless, below is the list of their bundles:

Faiba 4G is now available
in the following areas: Nairobi, Machakos,Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and
Thika, Embu.
AIRTEL
Airtel comes second in
coverage in Kenya. Their bundles are pocket-friendly especially for Kenyans
outside major towns which only have Safaricom and Airtel coverage. Airtel
daily 2GB bundle is phenomenal, especially if you are in a place with 4G
coverage and even for a medium daily internet user, 200MBS at just Ksh 20 is
affordable and enough to get going. Again, Airtel is now running a
special offer 1GB @ 49 for 30 days. This is the Kenya We want especially 4G
covered areas.
